project 31 - day six

Day 6. Your most embarrassing moment

Either I don't embarrass easily, or I'm not prone to embarrassing moments. Or perhaps it's my weird memory at work again and I just don't remember them. I'm having a very hard time thinking of an embarrassing moment.

I'm sure the Universe will take this opportunity to prove me wrong on both theories listed above.

The only thing I can think of was when I was fifteen years old and I had to be hospitalized for a bowel obstruction. I had been so sick for so long, and I was in and out of the ER and the doctor's office. Finally, after being totally miserable for weeks, I was admitted to the hospital and told I would need emergency surgery. I remember being introduced to the resident who would be on my case and thinking how cute he was. Then I immediately remembered that I hadn't shaved my legs in weeks. I was so embarrassed that this cute young doctor was going to see my hairy legs. I could have died.

I mean, I literally could have died. I was so sick. But I also could have figuratively died of embarrassment about my hairy legs.

The ironic part was that I don't remember being embarrassed that this cute young doctor was going to see my bare butt, up close and personal, along with all the glamour that goes along with that end of the body and a bowel obstruction.

The mind works in mysterious ways. The teenage mind even more so, apparently.

  1. very cute!! yeah i would prob be focused on my hair legs too. i was worrying about hair "down there" when i was in labor & couldn't care less about my actual girl parts. you made me giggle at the "literally, i could have died" although i'm really glad you didn't die!

  2. Thanks, Meghann! I know what you mean about the "lady grooming." It was definitely at the top of my list of concerns surrounding labor. It's the new "make sure you're wearing clean underwear in case you get hit by a car" thing, right?
